Battle of the spreads–the question whether butter or margarine is better for our health or consumption is a matter of controversy across every kitchen, and for long years. Margarine when developed, was considered as a healthy alternative to butter. It is made from vegetable oils like soybean and canola using hydrogenation. Hydrogenation is a process where these oils are heated at high temperatures in order to make them solid. This is what resulted in trans fat and is actually harmful for our body and directly impact the cholesterol levels.
