– Sloganeering and stone pelting by anti-social elements in Gujarat University

Students from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Syria and African countries study in the hostels of Ahmedabad Gujarat University. Sloganeering and stone pelting have also been done by anti-social elements on the foreign students staying in the university hostel in Ahmedabad. After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and started investigation. According to the information, anti-social elements entered the hostel room and vandalized it. The foreign students injured in the attack have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. After this incident of attack, questions have been raised on the security arrangements in the hostel of Gujarat University. At present all the gates leading to the hostel have been closed. Regarding this attack, it is being told that during Tarawi in A Block during the night of Ramzan, some students from B Block came and protested against it and stopped Tarawi from being carried out in the hostel campus. Initially three students had come to stop it, but then the mob reached there and started attacking the hostel. Foreign students living in the hostel said that we come here to study. If this is the condition then the government should not give visa. The victim students said that they were beaten up after entering their hostel rooms. Laptops, ACs, cupboards, tables, doors, music systems have been vandalized. Foreign students said that we participate in many festivals here, everyone is our brother, but this was not expected. After the attack on foreign students, Gujarat government has also come into action mode. Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi has called a meeting regarding this incident.
